Niugini Organics Virgin Coconut Oil has been wild harvested by local villagers in Papua New Guinea and hand finished on site. It is jarred, labelled and boxed ready for retail shelves by the local community of growers. Fresh from the shell, the coconut meat is quickly cold-pressed and left unrefined to preserve the natural nutritive essence of the coconut. The PNG based mill extracts the virgin oil without heat. Both the mill and surrounding small holder plantations have obtained organic certification from Organic Food Chain. Under the fair trade scheme the local growers are paid a fair price for their coconuts and the communities are benefiting from the additional employment and direct flow-on benefits other brands cannot claim.
Coconut Oil is ideal to use for cooking as it has a very high smoke point. This means that it can be heated to higher temperatures than most other vegetable oils ensuring that food is cooked faster to maintain nutrients. It can be used as a replacement for oils or butter in baked goods too. Use Coconut Oil wherever you use vegetable oil.
